If you were to ask any Minister, whether or not they follow the commandments of the Lord, they all would say yes, but the truth is that some don´t because of a variety of reasons that they then go on and try to justify. How do we know this? It is simply because of what we see and hear them do. It is they who provide the evidence for this opinion.
Some Pastors do not like to "offend" people and therefore they will not preach anything like a fire and brimstone message. They will not tell people that they are in sin, that they need to repent, and that they need a Saviour. They won´t say that the wages of sin is death. They won´t mention hell. These things, in a politically correct age, are taboo to some preachers. They just won´t go there.
Instead, they will preach a "soft" message about a loving Father who died for them. This is really only part of the Gospel message. Yes God is a loving Father but we should also preach what this loving Father says about the broad road that leads to destruction. We must preach about the consequences of not repenting and serving Christ.
One of the many reasons why some Ministers do not preach what I call the full Gospel, is that they think that they will "offend" people who will therefore not come back to their church. Their fear of losing members is greater than their fear of the God who gave them the ministry in the first place.
Another reason why some won´t preach the full Gospel is that they feel that they will lose important friends. Here, their pride and ego is more influential upon their behaviour and preaching, than the fear of the Lord. They want to be known as a popular preacher that God is blessing, and they want to be associated with "big" preachers and huge gatherings. Being shunned by these people and not being in the limelight is not a price worth paying they feel.
The church is not a democratic institution. We don´t cast votes to decide what should be preached or how things should be run. The church is theocratic, meaning that God rules in the church and dictates by His Word and His Spirit, how things should be run.
Some Christian churches today have the attitude of Ahab, the Israelite King in the Old Testament who did not like the prophet Micah because he said the prophet never prophesied anything good to him. People today want preachers to preach messages that they want to hear. Messages that don´t challenge them or get them to repent. They want to maintain their lifestyles but have on the veneer of Christianity.
A true Minister of the Gospel however, will say like Peter, “we cannot but speak the things that we have seen and heard and we ought to obey god rather than man.”
Being a true Minister is not a job for people with big egos, or for people who like the praise of men. Popularity and acceptance by the masses is no sign of being a true Minister. Success as a Minister is based on whether you do what the Lords says and preach the messages that He tells you to preach. Anything else is coming short of your ministry and just pandering to the people.
